Boat Tour Of The Fjords
The Western Brook Pond is a landlocked fjord located in the Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The pond was carved by glaciers and is home to waterfalls and wildlife. The boat tour offers spectacular views of the billion-year-old cliffs, waterfalls cascading from 2000 feet that often turn to mist before reaching the pond, and frequent wildlife sightings.
The Western Brook Pond Boat Tour lasts for two hours with live interpretation and costs $66 CAD +HST for adults and $35 CAD +HST for youth/child (1-17). Visitors must walk a moderate 3 km trail (approx. 45 min walk) from the parking lot to the dock. It takes about an hour to reach the dock, another hour to wait for everyone and get on the boat, 2 hours for the tour to get done, and another hour to get back. Visitors should set aside five hours on this tour and plan their other hikes/trips accordingly.
BonTours offers Western Brook Pond Boat Tours at $72 CAD per person for adults and $39 CAD per person for youth/child. A minimum of 15 people is required to depart, and cancellation policy requires 24 hours prior notice.
Admission passes reserved for the Western Brook Pond Tour must be purchased either at BonTours Office or at the Pond on the day of the tour. Parks Canada requires a Gros Morne National Park pass for the Western Brook Pond Boat Tour. Visitors should carry cash as a precaution since internet issues are common in this remote area, causing intermittent cellular service.
