I just learned that there is such a thing as Wagyu Beef from Newfoundland and it comes from the farms of New World Beef in Western Newfoundland. While the farm isn’t anything new, the Wagyu cows are and have been here in pasture since 2018 when they family operating New World Beef brought them in.
I’m a big “grass fed” person myself and am quite please to learn about the farm out here in NL and the variety of very high quality products they’re putting out. New World Beef’s products are distributed to locations on both sides of the island, but their online ordering is simple and easy.
New World Beef is a farm located in Saint David’s, Newfoundland and Labrador that offers homegrown wagyu and classic beef cuts. The farm is an offshoot of New World Dairy, which has been in operation for over 50 years and across three generations of the Chaffey family.
All the animals are born, bred, and raised on the farm, and about 40 employees look after both dairy cows and beef cows housed in five barns. New World Beef currently prepares about 12 classic beef cows per month and about two to four wagyu, but this varies depending on the season.
Wagyu beef is known around the world for its superior quality. Wagyu from Japan can be called Japanese Wagyu while Wagyu raised in other countries is usually referred to by its country of origin, such as Canadian Wagyu. Wagyu contains high amounts of oleic acid, which is said to be good for the heart. It also aids in lowering cholesterol levels.
New World Beef offers a variety of cuts including steaks, roasts, beef boxes, ground beef, burger patties, short ribs and more. Orders can be placed easily online in a variety of options online at newworldbeef.ca.
