$2.7M In Funding Will Be Made Available To Artists In 2024

Exciting developments are underway in the arts scene of Newfoundland and Labrador, as the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council is set to receive a substantial boost of $2 million. This funding will serve as the foundation for the establishment and administration of an innovative Year of the Arts grant program. The central goal of this program is to provide a helping hand to artists in their endeavours to create and showcase their artistic masterpieces during the Year of the Arts.

This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for professional artists and arts organizations across Newfoundland and Labrador to harness their creativity and contribute to this remarkable cultural celebration. The application process, overseen by ArtsNL, opens doors for a diverse range of talents to partake in this enriching opportunity.

In tandem with the Year of the Arts grant program, the festivities continue with the launch of the Celebrate NL’s exclusive $700,000 Arts Celebration Fund. This one-time fund is designed to make an impact by fostering growth and development in the arts sector. As the vibrant heartbeat of this fund, approximately 40 distinguished organizations dedicated to the presentation, promotion, and advancement of the arts in Newfoundland and Labrador will qualify for this financial support.

With this infusion of resources, these organizations will be equipped to enhance their capacity, elevate their artistic endeavours, and contribute to the flourishing cultural tapestry of the region.

“Artists and arts organizations bring colour and joy to our communities, and contribute to the economic well-being of our province. Our government has shown a strong commitment to artists, particularly throughout the difficulties of the past few years, and are reaffirming that support through this new $2.7 million investment. I have no doubt that the Year of the Arts will permeate the province with creativity and vibrancy, with countless opportunities to celebrate this exciting sector.” — Andrew Furey

The future of arts in Newfoundland and Labrador shines brighter than ever as these strategic investments ignite a surge of creativity, innovation, and growth. From empowering artists to nurturing organizations, these initiatives stand as pillars of support, ensuring that the arts continue to thrive and enrich the lives of all in this vibrant province.
