This Vodka Is Made With Captured Fog From Newfoundland

Fog Vodka, produced by Fog Distillery Co. in Newfoundland, utilizes a unique fog harvesting process to create its signature spirit. The distillery collects fog from the Harbour Grace area using specialized nets that capture the tiny water droplets suspended in the air.

This fog is then condensed into water through an innovative, energy-efficient passive system.

The process is designed to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, relying on natural fog conditions without the need for energy-intensive methods. The resulting water is used to dilute a high-proof vodka base, creating a product that embodies the essence of Newfoundland’s fog.

This method not only highlights the local terroir but also promotes conservation by utilizing a natural resource that is often overlooked. According to the founders, Bill and Kenny Tuff, this process allows them to produce 60,000-70,000 cases of vodka annually with their current system.

The resulting Fog Vodka is described as having subtle notes of vanilla and citrus with a crisp finish, reflecting the terroir of Newfoundland’s foggy environment.
