We’ve got another heritage property to talk about here, something I always love to cover as these homes fascinate me. The Angel House is the Ancestral home of the Angel Family from 1879 to 1997. The structure was built by James Angel around 1878-1879. James Angel is probably the easiest to associate with United Nail and Foundry, which is one of the incarnations of a family iron factory that ran from the 1850s to 1982.
The Angel House is a fantastic example of the Second Empire style of architecture, and certainly stands out compared to most older estate homes here. I absolutely love the grounds on this property, and it sprawls out over 0.9 of an acre which is quite a lot for being within the city.
The garden at the Angel House has quite the variety of trees including apple, cherry, walnut, chestnut, elms and lilacs. You will also find several 60 year old rhododendrons and a Virginia Creeper dating back to the 1920s, isn’t that amazing? This is certainly a private oasis in the city and I imagine the new owners will love every bit of it.
As for the home itself, it is 3,590 square feet of living space which includes four bedrooms and five bath spread out over a couple floors. As you can see from the Angel House photos below, a lot of the original character and charm is all over the property with just a few modern touches. Bravo to the current owners for keeping this place so beautiful and I love their eye for decor, it really looks great.
If you’re interested in purchasing the Angel House, it is now on the market for $1,350,000 CAD with Tom Beckett of RE/MAX. You can contact him directly via 709.682.3275 to find out more or schedule your home tour if interested.
