The Blundon House Heritage Premises Bay de Verde NL

Here’s another incredible video from the good folks at Discovering Newfoundland over on Youtube. The famous Cape Verde businessman John Blundon built this house at Cape Brendon 7 as a family home in the late 19th century. The two and a half storey house has a full attic, a closed porch and a separate staircase for servants.

This structure is the only remaining shop in Cape Verde. It was the home of three generations of Brendon: John’s son James, who was also a local businessman, lived in the house, and later his son Graham also lived in the house. It was mainly used as a family home until it was vacant in the summer of 1995. The Bay de Verde Heritage Committee now operates the Bay de Verde Heritage House at this location. The Newfoundland and Labrador Heritage Foundation recognized the Brendon House as a registered property in May 1997.
