The Newfoundland Distillery Co Whisky just launched and it is the first true whisky to be made right here in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Newfoundland Distillery Co has introduced its first-ever whisky, marking a significant milestone as it’s the first whisky fully crafted, distilled, and barrel-aged in Newfoundland and Labrador. This release means that every province across Canada now has their very own uniquely crafted whisky.
The Newfoundland Whisky is a single pot still whisky, triple-distilled and barrel-aged for a minimum of three years in Clarke’s Beach, on the shores of Conception Bay. The whisky is made using a mixture of malted and un-malted barley sourced from within Atlantic Canada.
This Newfoundland whisky has been aged in a mixture of virgin oak and once used bourbon barrels, which gives it a lovely texture and a perfectly balanced finish.

The whisky was officially released in November and is the first in the Newfoundland Distillery’s whisky series, with further releases planned throughout the year. If you don’t get your hands on a bottle, the next batch is already planned for February, with more to come in the following months.
The Newfoundland Distillery Co. has been crafting spirits that reveal the untapped potential of Newfoundland’s natural resources. While the distillery has been producing other spirits like gin, vodka, and rum, creating a whisky has always been their dream.
Surprisingly smooth for a three-year-old, our Newfoundland Whisky features hints of oak, butter scotch, almond, leather and green apple. It’s a superb sipper straight up or on the rocks, or in your favourite whisky-based cocktail.
After four years of planning and three more years of patiently waiting, they are now ready to share their whisky with the world. The distillery is looking forward to the whisky aging and hopes the launch marks the beginning of a thriving industry, with more mature batches from the distillery coming in the future.
The company has plan a release for their very first single malt whisky and is planned to be released in the summer of 2025. We cannot wait to get a bottle and have a taste if there are any left.
