Northstead is an old Viking town located near L’Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland and is the only authenticated Viking site in all of North America. Norstead Viking Village tries to emulate a port of trade as it may have looked during the Viking era which was roughly from 790-1066 AD.
It also houses a fifty-four foot long replica of the Viking Knarr, which sailed from Greenland to L’Anse aux Meadows in 1998 with 9 crew members. If you love history you won’t want to miss a visit here despite it being in quite a remote location. So remote in fact you’re heading to the north western tip of Newfoundland, just outside of St. Anthony.
