I’ve been on a product hunt lately for all things made in Newfoundland & Labrador. I’ve been going to a lot of local markets buying gifts, artwork and locally made goodies. My Google searching put me on the path towards Ragmaw Design House based out of St John’s where I saw this gorgeous Red Poppies handbag.
This specific bag caught my eye and thought it would make for a great first post in our shop section of the website. The Red Poppies handbag is well made, described as a bit rugged with a heavy weight waxed canvas body. Being from Newfoundland, that is exactly the kind of durability you would expect from a product made here.
This unique handbag is made with original Ragmaw fabric and has two exterior zipper pockets framed with leather. Inside you’ll find two interior slip pockets, as well a detachable leather tassel for ease of access. You can snag this bag directly from their website for $305 CAD and support local talent.
This independent bag brand has been carving out its own path since its inception and owner Megan Jackman has quite a cool story behind the brand. The CBC(and many others) have run stories about her and Ragmaw, so hit play on the video below to learn more about this made in Newfoundland company.
